Dr. Ladi Dosei Kwali (1925-1983), the woman on the N20 note is Nigeria's best known potter who was awarded a Doctorate & was made MBE in 1963 for the level of detail & skill she utilized while making her pots. She was born in Kwali town in the present Federal Capital Territory, Abuja,Nigeria & had the opportunity to exhibit her work in Europe in 1958, 1959 and 1962. Her pottery was also displayed during Nigeria’s independence celebrations in 1960.She gave lectures & demonstrations on her craft.
