LORD LUGARD OPENS PORT HARCOURT PORT 1913

In 1913, Port Harcourt Port was opened to shipping by Lord Lugard, the Governor General. Lord Lugard saw the need for a modern port to serve in the evacuation of the agricultural produce of South-eastern Nigeria and the minerals from the Plateau of North-eastern Nigeria.
